NAPA Training Programme
NAPA's service to our Associate IAPs includes one training session per IAP provider for IAP staff every year,
delivered in person on-site, although additional sessions can be purchased. Available topics are summarised below. Each time the IAP manager can decide which one most suits the needs of their IAP staff.
Drugs and Alcohol
To enable staff who work in Approved Premises to increase their knowledege and understanding of substance use and misuse
Working with Groups in APs
To enable Approved Premises staff to set up and deliver activities/interventions with groups of AP residents using the relevant principles and methods of group work.
Risk of Harm to others
To enable staff who work in Approved Premises to gain an awareness of the principles and significance of risk assessment and the management of residents' risk of harm to others
Understanding Trauma
To enable staff who work in Approved Premises to gain a better understanding of the impact of trauma and to explore the benefits of a trauma informed approach
Understanding Aggression and Violent Behaviour
To enable staff who work in Approved Premises to gain a better understanding of aggressive and violent behaviour and how their own approach can impact this
Effective Engagement
To enable staff who work in Approved Premises to gain an awareness of the principles and significance of effective engagement
Rehabilitative / Purposeful Activities
To enable learners to identify and explore the concept of Rehabilitative / Purposeful Activities in various Approved Premises in order to further develop these activities in their own premises
Suicide and intentional Self Harm
To enable staff who work in Approved Premises to gain a basic understanding about suicide, intentional self-injury, self-harm and the management of this within an AP
Working with Male Sex Offenders
To enable staff who work in Approved Premises to increase their knowledge about male SO’s and work more confidently work with them
